"For Family and Friends: How to Support Recovery and Not Support Addiction " will be presented on February 23, 2010; 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm; by Ronald E. Harrison, SW; Chemical Dependency Therapist. When pleading, threatening, encouraging, manipulating, and shaming have not worked - what does work when confronted with a loved one’s addiction? What does not work? What can others do to help? What does not help? This program will address these and other questions. This program is part of the Dawn Farm Education Series, a FREE, annual workshop series. Our presentations offer helpful information that supports chemically dependent people in achieving, maintaining, and strengthening their recoveries. The series educates family members on issues relating to addiction and its effect on the family, and offers information that will be useful for friends and family members in relating to addicts whether they are actively using or in recovery. Professionals and students will also benefit from this pertinent information. All programs are free and open to anyone interested. Registration is not required. 1.5 hours of free C.E. approved by MCBAP (Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals) is offered for each workshop. A certificate to document attendance is provided on request. The Education Series is organized by Dawn Farm, a non-profit community of programs providing a continuum of chemical dependency services. O-bento' is what the Japanese call a packed meal, usually lunch. Bento boxes have internal dividers, and sometimes several stacked layers, so different kinds of food sit in their own little compartments. The whole thing is usually wrapped together with chopsticks in a cloth or special bag, and the goal is to make the whole package as attractive as possible. Pittsfield Branch, AADL will offer 2 sessions in bento – what has now become an art form. They will provide the food, box and materials, and you will provide the imagination to design your own bento box. Grades K-3 11am-12:30pm, grade 4-adult 2-3:30pm. Location: Pittsfield Branch Library
